Professional Training Courses | The Education Advisory Council (EAC)
AMRAC Courses
Background: As a trained professional military recruiter and counselor, it is essential that you
have access to the most current information pertaining to the training of veterans and service
members for post-service careers and educational opportunities.
The AMRAC Education Advisory Council conducts regularly scheduled seminars that are
conducted in residence (usually at veteran’s facilities such as the VFW, American Legion,
AMVETs, Disabled American Veterans, National Guard or Reserve locations) or in a webinar
format. Seminars for the 2012 calendar year are listed below and will be announced in
the “Events” section of this website:
This 8 hour seminar covers the aspects of counseling veterans and their family members
on distance learning preparation, expectations, study habits, delivery methods, financing
and Department of Veterans Affairs programs. The seminar is designed for the professional
counselor or distance learning professional who desires to increase expertise in designing
distance learning for veterans and the unique needs of veterans and their families in a post
military environment.
Distance learning has its defenders and proponents; but the most effective delivery of distance
learning often depends upon the age and background of the student, and at which stage in life the
individual is in at the time of entry into the distance learning environment. This 8 hour seminar
covers the range of options from Podcasts to webinars and conventional virtual classroom
settings. It also explores special needs access for handicapped or disabled students. This course
is designed for professional instructors or counselors who wish to improve classroom set up and
retention of material by students.
This 8 hour session goes deep into the realm of virtual learning and gives the instructor or
counselor maximum hands on opportunities to explore the world of virtual classrooms and
improve course delivery methodology. By utilizing proven and creative technology and
assessments, the seminar is devised with the purpose of designing the classroom around the
needs of the student, particularly the military veteran.
Active and reserve service members are often unprepared for the distance learning environment
and how to approach their academic goals. This 8 hour seminar explores a broad array of
counseling and instructional considerations for military members prior to the distance learning
effort. Academic evaluations under the Service-members Opportunity College (SOC), American
Council of Education (ACE) standards for awarding credit for military service and various
independent study options for the military student make up the major portion of this seminar.
Designed for the counselor, manager or instructor who is currently considering organizational or
academic independent study and distance learning expansion in organizations or current school
programs. This 8 hour seminar is designed for the professional course designer or organizational
training leader who has need for broader skills in designing curriculum that will deliver needed
instruction at appropriate levels.
