1. History: The Recruiting and Retention Hall of Fame was established in 1998 to preserve the memory and recognize the contributions of those personnel who have been selected for membership by their peers based on career achievements that have enhanced the military's recruiting and retention programs and improved the lives of the military personnel served. Originally called the Army Retention Hall of Fame, the name was changed at the start of 2006 to the Military Recruiting and Retention Hall of Fame as a means to include all military service branches and to link the recruiting and retention professions.
2. Selection Committee: The Hall of Fame Honors Committee, selected and headed by the Director of Awards and Recognition who will convene an annual board to select new Hall of Fame members. The Hall of Fame Honors Committee will be comprised of 10 randomly selected current Hall of Fame members. These members will consider Hall of Fame status on nominated military recruiters and career counselors/advisors who have been retired from the military for at least one year as listed below.
Eligibility:

1. Recent Retirees: Eligible candidates are those military personnel (active and reserve) who have been retired for less than 12 months but not more than 36 months from the convening date of the board.

2. Older retirees and special categories:
- Deserving candidates not selected under step 1 above who have been retired for more than three years and recently deceased recruiters and retention personnel can be nominated at any time.
- Members of the National Guard and Reserve who are NOT on active duty in an AGR status, but hold or previously held the primary duty of recruiter or retention (manager/counselor/ advisor) and have over 20 years military service may also be considered, if formally nominated.
- Civilians engaged in recruiting or retention for the military for a minimum of twenty years (may be combined with military service) are also eligible under this category.
3. To be elected, a candidate must receive 70% of the vote from those voting members turning in an official ballot. Those receiving 40% of the vote, but less than 70% will be carried over to the following year for one final consideration. The Director of Awards and Recognition of the Association of Military Recruiters and Counselors will administer the selection process and procure recognition through the Association for all honorees.
